Sean Renfree ****
Sean Renfree will be an excellent fit for Duke. He is a 6'3", 208 lb. QB out of Notre Dame Preperatory School (Scottsdale, AZ) and has narrowed it down to three schools: Duke, Arizona State, and Boise State. Renfree is smart (3.91 GPA in high school) and fast (4.5 40). Renfree is the 10th ranked QB in the class according to Scout.com. Renfree is a great recruit and we at DFR believe it is going to be fun to watch him learn, grow, and excel under Coach Cut's tutelage!
Jordon Byas **
Jordon Byas is a speedy, hard hitting safety who comes to Duke from Bay Senior High School in Panama City, FL. Byas is 6'2", 190, and runs a 4.52 40 according to Scout.com. Byas was also held offeres from South Florida, Clemson, and Ole Miss. Byas injured his ACL during his junior year and missed most of the season, but was back for his senior year. Welcome to Duke, Jordan!
Tony Foster **
Tony Foster is a WR out of Walter M. Williams High School in Burlington, NC. Foster is 6'2", 170, with a 4.42 40. Foster was actually recruoted by former coach Ted Roof's staff, and Scottie Montgomery was able to keep in touch with Foster during the coaching transition and secure Foster's commitment a week before national signing day.
Trent Mackey **
Trent Mackey is a fast, solid linebacker from Carencro High School in Lafayette, LA. Mackey is 5'9", 191, and runs a 4.5 40. During his senior season, Mackey earned 1st team Class 5A All-State and Defensive MVP honors as he posted impressive numbers: 103 tackles, 5 sacks, and 13 tackles for loss. Mackey also earned 1st team Class 5A All-State honors after his junior season.
Conor Irwin *
Conor Irwin is 6'5", 245, and comes from Knoxville Catholic High School in Knoxville, TN. Irwin reportely turned down a walk-on offer from Tennessee as well as offers from Harvard, Brown, Penn, and Cornell. It is likely that Coach Cut's ties to Tennessee helped Duke to land Irwin, who's father played OT at Tennessee from 1978-80 before a NFL career that spanned 1981-94. Irwin becomes Coach Cut's second recruit.
Johnny Williams *
Johnny Williams is a speedy wide receiver and defensive back who earned all-state honors at Leroy High School in Alabama. Williams is 5'11", 195, and runs a 4.38 40. Williams is the first player to commit to Duke since the hiring of Coach Cut, and was targeted at the suggestion of Ron Middleton. |
